Talel McBriar’s voice swoons with thoughtful lyrics and honest melody

Talel McBriar is singer-songwriter currently based out of Victoria BC. While her sound merges traditional folk with alternative rock influences, the 23-year-old’s haunting voice delivers reflective and insightful lyrics. Delivered through stirring vocals and emotive instrumentals, Talel's lyrics are honest and cathartic as she confronts her anxieties and observations through song. "Talel effortlessly conveys her discomfort with the present times in a way I once thought required three or four times her life experience," says Josh Lehman, producer of The 6 Mile Sessions. Raised on classic and alternative rock, trained in classical piano, and introduced to guitar through the bluegrass scene in her teens, Talel's influences are vast and evident in her unique sound. In 2018, her original song October won her and bandmate Ella Korth a Kootenay Music Award for ‘Best Original Roots Song.’ With an interest in furthering her music education, Talel attended the Selkirk College Music and Technology Program and graduated in 2021 with a diploma in songwriting and vocal studies. Following the release of multiple music videos and a single in May 2021, Talel's debut EP titled Flood Season was released on July 8th, 2022. Throughout the Summer of 2022, Talel and her band traveled to various locations in Southern BC and the Pacific Northwest to support her debut EP release.
